7 Central Florida Mini-Adventures

January 8, 2016

I don’t have the stamina for making intricate plans long into the new year, but I still want to … do stuff. Here are seven mini-adventures on my radar for the next few months.

2016 has already settled in, wrapped itself in a Snuggie® and put its feet up, hasn’t it? Lists, to-dos and proverbial buckets are all waiting to be checked off and filled.

A list for the plan, a plan for the list

I used to be quite the life-planner. I had lists for my lists. It was all very tidy, but at some point (and I blame my husband for this) spontaneity showed up in my life, but then so did Netflix and his buddy, The Couch.

I still plan out my big goals, but I’ve been winging it for fun outings and new adventures. That’s not working out too well as evidenced by a foggy memory of my last “good time” that did not include my television.

I like these mini-adventure ideas because they are nearby, budget friendly and easy to plan.

Glamping at Westgate River Ranch

Glamorous camping (glamping) has been on my mind for a long time. This is a good time of year in Florida to try it out.

Hockey!

Tickets for Orlando Solar Bears or Tampa Bay Lightning hockey games are very reasonable, starting around $17.

Food tours are in my future.

And so are ghost tours.

I know, I know, it’s not October, but these tours are fun anytime, especially in the cooler weather. I also enjoy the history that is woven into the tours.

Bonus – Speaking of walking and being spooked, Backpackerverse.com blogged about 10 spooky Florida hikes.

Publix Cooking School Classes

Am I the only person who didn’t know that Publix offers cooking classes? Well now that I know, I’m excited to check this out. We have several Apron’s Cooking Schools in Central Florida.

Visit Wondermade in Sanford

Artisan marshmallows are a hot item right now and are being made right in our back yard. Day trip to Sanford, anyone?

Hike the Cruickshank Trail at Blackpoint Wildlife Drive

Blackpoint is one of my most favorite places in all of Florida. I usually do the wildlife drive, but have not explored the trail much. Now that the bugs are less pesky and it’s cooler this hike is on my list.
